El laúd (del árabe العود al-`ūd) es un instrumento de cuerda pulsada, cuyo origen se remonta a la Edad Media y cuya introducción a Europa se dio por medio de la España islámica (Al-Ándalus fué el nombre que se le dió a la península ibérica en el contexto de la cultura islámica)
El laúd usado en los países árabes y en todo el Medio Oriente carece de trastes, pues estos impedirían la realización de cuartos de tono, necesarios en las escalas orientales. Tiene el mástil algo más corto, en comparación con el laúd europeo, y una caja de resonancia más grande.
En el mundo árabe se le considera el instrumento ideal para la composición y el acompañamiento. Su timbre es muy hermoso. Personalmente lo encuentro de una mayor delicadeza que el de la guitarra, por ejemplo.
Mi afición a la sonoridad de este instrumento me ha llevado a escuchar varios intérpretes y hasta el momento ninguno, entre los contemporáneos(*), me parece que alcanza la maestría de Naseer Shamma
Shamma es un afamado laudista iraquí residente en Egipto que ha ganado fama mundial por sus excelentes cualidades como intérprete del laud; esa fama lo ha llevado de gira por paises de todo el mundo.
De acuerdo a la nota en la parte interior del folleto de portada, el álbum recoge "improvisaciones, variaciones y composiciones sobre el laud de los modos (maqamat) que trajo Ziryab de Bagdad a Córdoba hace más de mil años", de alli pues el título: Maqamat Ziryab
...Una última sugerencia (no deja de ser eso: una sugerencia): para mejor apreciarlo, escúchese solo en momentos de absoluta serenidad y sosiego.
... Y que Dios bendiga sus orejitas para que sigan disfrutando de exquisiteces como éstas.
(*) Dentro de poco les estaré recomendando un intérprete de los que podríamos considerar de los "clásicos" del laud árabe

You post a wonderful music and I congratulate you for you very good taste, but I cannot spot wondering why you chose mp3 instead a lossless format, like APE or FLAC. I was so excited discovering your blog, and so disappointed founding out I'm downloading an mp3. Mp3 simply kills the music, and I mean the real music, the one you don't hear the first time but discover the N-th time and wonder it was there the first time and you didn't hear. With mp3, you hear all from the first time and there's nothing new left to hear anymore. I've read once this theory in Diapason (french magazine) and it was much better argumented than I can try to put it myself now, but you get the general idea. When you reduce that much, it's impossible not to lose something.
Just a though, I hope you don't mind.

I understand you, perfectly, (and you're right, absolutely) ...
But, please, understand my reasons:
Each blog is aimed at a particular audience; there are many people worldwide who lack access to a broadband connection; in addition, many other, just starting in technical and technological aspects of the sound (I myself -and I’m sure many other-, have had that experience).
My blog is aimed, in particular, to such people. My desire, as expressed in a certain point in my blog, is that people of all sorts and conditions enjoy the music because I believe that the right to music is as fundamental as .... the right to life itself.
There are too many excellent blogs on the network dedicated to sharing music with minimal compression; in my blog I published many of them in “My favorite blogs” I just did not forgive myself that those of my readers who are in a position of technological disadvantage, stay "with the desire" to hear the sweet sounds of music ...
"MUSIC IS FOR EVERYONE" I'm sure of that… And I enjoy to share with those who are in disadvantage withouth, necessarily, make a crime against the quality of music: mp3 at 128 kbps has been considered by expert an acceptable standard to preserve a good level of quality.
In any case, I appreciate very much your comment, since it allowed me the opportunity to clarify this point. In fact, I will immediately make an entry in the body of the blog explaining these reasonsthat, incidentally, I never had done..
